10 Things EMC Employees Want To Know About The Dell Merger

What's Next?

The contents of an employee intranet Q&A were recently filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission by Hopkinton, Mass.-based data storage giant #EMC. The exchange is a mix of employee questions and questions anticipated by EMC management, according to a spokesman, and it shows employees seeking clarification on how to think about the EMC shares they hold, how their options will be treated if they're laid off, how exactly the #VMware tracking stock #Dell intends to issue as part of the transaction will work.

EMC is in the midst of an aggressive, $850 million cost-cutting program unveiled last summer that will result in an unspecified number of layoffs. The cost-reduction plan also will result in the company's exiting some businesses and getting rid of products that aren't showing strong growth. With the acquisition by Dell now looming, employees are curious about what it means for the nest eggs they've nurtured at EMC.

Here are several questions employees asked in the internal Q&A.
