Why Snapchat's Spectacles May Succeed Where Google Failed

#Snap ’s Spectacles are a rounded, vaguely hipsterish pair of sunglasses with the ability to record up to thirty seconds of footage at a time, which can then be uploaded directly to Snap. #Spectacles record footage in a new, circular format which can be viewed in any orientation. Of course, Snap isn’t the first to offer such a product. Wearable cameras have existed for years, the most high-profile attempt being #GoogleGlass. Google promised a revolution of sorts, by changing the way we share and view information, but their product faced hefty criticism over privacy concerns, and was viewed by many as intrusive, if not outright annoying. Where Google failed, and where Snap may succeed, is in how the public perceives the product.
