Splice Machine Selected to Become National Technical Information Service (NTIS) Joint Venture Partner

#SpliceMachine, provider of the open-source SQL RDBMS powered by #Hadoop and #Spark, has been announced as one of 35 organizations to be selected through a merit-based process as eligible to be joint venture partners (JVPs) by the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Technical Information Service ( #NTIS 11). By becoming an NTIS JVP, Splice Machine will be eligible to be chosen to work with the NTIS on data-driven projects that are requested and funded by federal agencies. “These joint ventures mark a major milestone for the data economy,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker in a recent press release. “As America’s data agency, the Commerce Department is committed to making it easier for businesses, government, taxpayers and communities to access, analyze and use data to strengthen economic growth and create new jobs. I am confident the partnerships between NTIS and each selected organization will unlock new federal data that will leverage advances in data science, promote software development and accelerate innovation.” The NTIS joint ventures are defined as an “NTIS – Business Partnership” where both parties invest resources to deliver a product or service to Federal agencies. These business partnerships are focused on complex data projects that require fast execution and innovative technologies and are not amenable to typical contracts or available commercial solutions. The partnership’s mission is to collect and widely disseminate federal scientific, technical, engineering and business-related information as well as to aid in the focus on providing federal customers with online data and services. “The NTIS JVP program gives us a unique opportunity to power intelligent applications that tap into the wealth of federal data resources and drive innovation at a national level,” said Monte Zweben, co-founder and CEO, Splice Machine. “With the advancements being made every day in machine learning and artificial intelligence, this program and its participants can help propel government agencies forward, from audacious moon shots to seemingly mundane data sharing.” About Splice Machine Splice Machine is disrupting the $30 billion traditional database world with the open-source RDBMS powered by Apache™ Hadoop® and Apache Spark™, for mixed operational and analytical workloads. Splice Machine makes it easy to create modern, real-time, scalable applications, or to offload operational and analytical workloads from expensive Oracle, Teradata, and Netezza systems. The Splice Machine RDBMS simplifies the Lambda architecture, so businesses no longer have to manage the complexity of integrating multiple compute engines to ingest, serve, or analyze data. With Splice Machine’s “Lambda in a Box” architecture, developers and data scientists can store their data all in one place and just write SQL. Splice Machine is a trademark of Splice Machine, Inc.
