ABB and HPE join forces in industrial automation

@ABB and @Hewlett Packard Enterprise ( #HPE ) said they have agreed t combine the 'ABB Ability' digital operations technologies (OT) services with HPE hybrid information technology (IT) products. This will generate actionable insights from large amounts of #industrialdata, enabling customers to increase the efficiency and flexibility of their operations, they said. The partnership will enable ABB Ability products to run on hybrid platforms such as HPE #ProLiant for @Microsoft #Azure Stack, enabling customers to deploy applications to their preferred location. ABB and HPE will also provide data centre automation, integrating ABB Ability Data Center Automation with the HPE OneView software. The two firms are working on secure edge data centre services, too, in conjunction with IT rack manufacturer Rittal. ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer said the partnership will bring intelligence from cloud-based services to site deployments in industrial plant and data centres for greater uptime, speed and yield. ABB said it has an installed base of 70 million connected devices, 70,000 digital control systems and 6,000 enterprise software products in the industrial sector. Meg Whitman, CEO of HPE, said the two companies will shape a digital industrial future where everything computes, equipping machines with intelligence to collaborate, allowing plants to adapt to changing demands, and enabling global supply chains to react instantly to incidents.
