When security software vendor #SonicWall was bought by #Dell in 2012, the company was forced to shut down its longtime Medallion partner program and enter into Dell's PartnerDirect program, adding its name to the long list of vendors whose technologies Dell could sell. That changed more than four years later, when Dell shed SonicWall as part of its efforts to get the financing in order to buy storage giant #EMC for a massive $60 billion-plus. SonicWall, which celebrates its 25th anniversary as a company this year, was bought by private equity firms #FranciscoPartners and #ElliottManagement in the second half of 2016
