#Dell 's VP of global channels and alliances @CherylCook says the vendor is looking to ensure the #EMC channel isn't overly disrupted late summer when the company's post-merger partner program is expected to debut.
According to Cook, integration teams featuring execs from Dell and EMC are currently working on areas including channel coverage and partner program integration.
"We haven't gotten to specifics on what we'll do there," she told Channelnomics. "But from a philosophic point, Dell's done quite a fewacquisitions, many of which have been of companies that were primarily channel-oriented go to market. We want to take the best of best attributes and characteristics from the programs, and if there's a way to take those best of breed and evolve our program to where it's uniquely differentiated or advantaged, we're going to continue to do that."
Cook added that while one unified program is the end game, the goal is to not excessively disturb EMC's channel.
"EMC's got a phenomenally mature and successful channel, so we're going to want to make sure we don't disrupt it too much, so well take the best of both," she explained. "It will come into a unified, single program though, so we're going to want to make sure we try to keep things straightforward, simple and easy to navigate."
A key element of the post-merger program will be enablement resources, as both Dell and EMC currently have competency, training and certification-based partner programs, Cook noted. After the merger, leveraging education tools will be important for Dell-only solution providers in order to take advantage of cross-selling opportunities, she said.
