“The best user experience will win in hyperconverged,” says HPE on theCUBE

Last week at #HPE Discover 2016 London, Dave Vellante & Paul Gillin of #theCUBE chatted with Bryan Jacquot, Worldwide User Experience Architect at HPE. Vellante started the interview by commenting on the fact that they don’t typically interview someone with Jacquot’s title. Jacquot agreed, yet his job is vital at HPE. By studying human-computer interaction and cognitive psychology, software designers can improve user experience. For example, he mentioned that the careful use of color and sound is important in how the brain interprets and accepts information. Using basic fundamentals of cognitive psychology, designers can take complex systems and make them easier to understand and use. He went on to discuss his most recent work designing the user interface (UI) for the new operating environment on the HPE Hyper Converged 380. The HPE Hyper Converged Operating Environment 2.0 software update leverages composable technologies to deliver new capabilities to the HPE Hyper Converged 380. “We've done a lot of work to make sure that the interface is simple for an IT generalist to use. The data that is important to them is right there. The other thing we’ve done is to display that data in a way that is easy to understand and visually attractive. We’ve leveraged patterns people are familiar with from their consumer devices. So although this is a new interface, we take what people currently know and apply it to a new area,” Jacquot explained.
