#WhatsApp is perhaps among the most popular chatting apps globally, with a user-base of around 1.2 billion people. A new online report suggests that #Facebook might be planning on moving WhatsApp off #IBM ’s cloud in preference to Facebook’s own data centre. According to CNBC, a source claims that Facebook is planning on moving WhatsApp off IBM’s cloud to the company’s own data storage. The report further noted that WhatsApp is among IBM’s top five public cloud customers in terms of revenue. Other customers include Amazon Web Services ( #AWS ) and #Microsoft #Azure. To recall, #Facebook acquired #WhatsApp in 2014 for $19 billion just a year after the company acquired Instagram as well. Even though, #IBM hasn’t advertised its business with WhatsApp; it will be a great loss for the company if the above given report does turn out to be true. "WhatsApp has been a great client of IBM Cloud as they used our global footprint and capabilities to scale their business," IBM said in a statement. "We are proud of the role of IBM Cloud in their success. It is completely natural for Facebook to seek synergies across their business."
