At the 2017 #HPE Discover Conference HPE and its partners showed how HPE plans to boost its storage business across all the major storage market segments. HPE is pushing an open #hybridcloud model since on-premise hardware and services will co-exist with full cloud services for some time to come. In addition, HPE showed how it is creating digital transformation in business and introduced its Project New Stack. #Nimble was acquired by HPE in April 2017. Nimble offers hybrid and all flash array products, it’s very useful monitoring and reporting software (Infosight), a future proof guarantee and impressive customer service. Nimble flash-based products join those of older acquisition #3PAR. Between the two types of products HPE can now deliver to the high end and mid-range all flash market. These products also provide support for hyperconverged infrastructure that supports HPE’s drive to open hybrid enterprise infrastructure. The Infosight monitoring capability from Nimble collects data from many sensors which are processed using cloud analytic capabilities in order to look for abnormalities and trends, including imminent failures or problems, whether storage-related or not. In some cases, these issues can be fixed without user intervention or even awareness, and in other cases a warning and recommendation is sent to the customer. Nimble said that 86% of what could otherwise become customer support issues are recognized and resolved before the customer even notices it. HPE intends to use the Infosight analytics to improve service on its other storage products.
