#Quantumcomputers have the potential to solve problems that would take a classical computer longer than the age of the universe. According to Oxford University physicist, David Deutsch, quantum computers can efficiently render every physically possible quantum environment, even when vast numbers of universes are interacting. Quantum computers can also efficiently solve certain mathematical problems, such as factorization, which are classically intractable, and can implement types of cryptography which are classically impossible. #Quantumcomputation is a qualitatively new way of harnessing nature.
China is building a huge US $10 billion research center for #quantumapplications with the ultimate goal of creating a #quantumcomputer with a million times the computing power of all others presently in the world.
The new super center, called the National Laboratory for Quantum Information Sciences, nearly 4 million square feet will be built in Hefei, Anhui Province. It reportedly has two major research goals: quantum metrology and building a quantum computer whose mind-boggling power dwarfs anything in the world today reports Popular Science.
